First HF Station
That summer I purchased an complete HF Station. Kenwood Twins R-599A, T-599A and S-599, 10’ section of tower, 12’ mast, Alliance rotor, coax, guide wires and a Moonraker 4, tuned to 28.400 MHz
The Kenwood Twins started a fascination with Twin Radios. Over the years I collected a shack full of Twin Tube Rigs, Boat Anchors
My favorite was the Collins Gold Dust Twins. KWS-1 Transmitter, 75A-4 Receiver and 270G-1 Speaker
RF Adventure Begins
By 1989 Solar Cycle 22 reached its peak and the HF Bands were wide open
Having a 4 element, vertical & horizontal, 10 meter beam let me work the world.
Day or night there was an endless stream of QSO's
Cycle 22 was the beginning & best Cycle of my 4 Cycle Adventure.
Although, Cycle 25 on the upswing
Space Weather Enthusiasts Dashboard
13 WPM Wall
I soon tried upgrading to General. Writen test was not the problem.
Getting to 13 WPM was a problem
Then FCC relaxed the requirments and HF was wide open. With limited space
I bought a Alpha-Delta DX-EE Parallel dipole, 40-10 meters
Tuned each band to General Covage. Also covers 30-17 & 12 meters with an antenna tuner. Overall length is 40 ft.
Next phase of the RF Adventure begins
RadioWavz FTD-65 PRO
purchased a folded terminated dipole, FTD-65 PRO, from RadioWavz. Should be up sometime in April. Live on a hill side, installation will be a little creative.
Hopping the FTD helps with my noise level.
